Summer Building Booms as Vermont Sees Manufactured Homes
The summer of 1963 saw a wave of house construction in Vermont with many locals building their own homes and developers turning farmland west of Bennington into residential sites. The trend includes large-scale manufactured homes, new subdivisions near Pippin Knoll and Vail Road, and vacation home villages near ski areas. National figures show 1,430,000 new homes projected this year at about 23 billion dollars, with 120,000 single family homes sold in Q1 and residential contracts rising.

The church held its first service on Christmas Eve 1959 and was dedicated the next spring after a 1961 rebuild following an explosion.
