UVM to Add Allied Health Sciences Building Next Spring

The University of Vermont College of Medicine plans a $4.1 million, 70 000 square foot Allied Health Sciences Building. Start next spring with completion in two years. It will house Nursing and Allied Health programs, with first floor dental hygiene and radiologic technology, upper floors classrooms labs and a link to Given Building. State and federal funds cover the project.

UVM Announces $4.2 Million in Grants

University of Vermont trustees report teaching and research grants totaling over 4.2 million since May. The awards include 30680 dollars to Jack Little for adult education, 10000 to John Weinberg for Medical College, 4976 to Mary Jane Gray for obstetrics and gynecology, 4807 to Philip Kelleher and 4034 to William Winters for the medicine department.

Vermont pharmacists push more education at annual convention

The Vermont Pharmaceutical Association outlines a toll house Inn Stowe meeting September 13 14 to stress continuing education for pharmacists. Executive secretary Berkeley V Bennett says collaboration with physicians and para medical groups has advanced public health and access to care while expanding the role of pharmacists as consultants and health educators.

Dinamite left at Austin police station shocks aides

A man with long sideburns drove a gold dune buggy to an Austin police station. He handed a police aide a stick of dynamite and fled before officers realized what he carried. Police Lt. Spohnholtz remarked uncertainty over the act being a service or a scare.

Swiss Approve Longest Road Tunnel Through Gotthard

Bern Switzerland the government approved a 10 mile road tunnel through the Gotthard making the longest of its kind and linking central and southern Switzerland. The project costs about 67.3 million dollars with 3.7 million for a side gallery to permit a second tunnel later. Completion is expected in seven years.
