Black Panthers Protest Attack By Off-Duty N Y C Policemen

In Brooklyn a Black Panthers and Peace and Freedom Party protest followed an attack in Criminal Court by about 200 off duty policemen on a group of twelve Negroes. Two Panthers were arrested for disobeying police orders. injuries included scalping wounds to a Panther and a white demonstrator. Mayor Lindsay ordered a full investigation, with the district attorney also reviewing charges. The incident prompted editorials warning of rising police sentiment that they are above the law.
