Aiken says milk subsidy for schools will continue
Senator George Aiken asserts Congress will keep the school milk subsidy despite the Agriculture Department’s report that funds are exhausted. About 35,000 Vermont children would be affected if the program ends. Aiken remains certain the measure will be renewed, noting Congress is moving on the issue. The subsidy reimburses schools roughly three cents per half pint sold.
