Arlington Pre-Election Meeting On Sewer Plan Sparks Clash
Arlington residents pressed Selectman Robert V. Jones over costs and control of a proposed sewerage system as a town vote on Nov 3 would authorize buying seven acres for a treatment plant. The plan faces $1.2 million Phase I cost, with most funded by grants, and questions about assessments, timing, and town-to-district sharing. Local officials defend state grants and outline hearings, while critics warn of loss of rural character and insufficient cost data before the decision.
