A Chorus Line opens Broadway with mixed feelings
New York reviewers praise the show’s energy and music while noting it diverges from Michael Bennett’s original vision. The production at the Shubert Theater is lavish and lively, but some critics feel life has replaced the raw human experience. Others review nearby offers at Lincoln Center and a Shaw Festival revival, with mixed judgments on pacing and stagecraft.
