Nations Bicentennial Era Terror Threat Highlights Congress Hearing
Police officials from California New York and Florida warned Congress that the 1976 bicentennial year could see political kidnappings and extortion. They cited 2,500 trained operatives in Cuba and groups using a half million dollar computer to study the U S power structure while seeking powerful bombs and possibly nerve gas or nuclear weapons.

Betty Ford healthy after cancer surgery a year later
Washington UPI doctors said Betty Ford shows no signs of cancer more than a year after breast removal surgery. A Bethesda Naval Hospital exam found she is in excellent health with preliminary tests indicating no cancer. Mrs. Ford, who received chemotherapy after the Sept. 28, 1974 operation, faced fatigue but recovered. White House physician Lukash confirmed her good health.
