Motel Owner Objects To Shaftsbury Sign Ordinance
A Shaftsbury public hearing over a town sign ordinance drew few attendees. Merton Snow said the ordinance remains valid and should be enforced or repealed while 10 of 14 violators cooperated. Motel owner David Rees disputed the rules citing a $1,400 sign. Col. Ayres noted violations by neighbors also require rectification. The amendment could raise fines to 50 per violation per day, with seven days notice required before action. Thomas Hall Jr. moderated and revealed he rebuilt his sign to comply.
