The Five Flys Nightclub Opens at Old Manchester Mill
Tony Perry converts Civil War era Manchester mill into a 360 seat nightclub named The Five Flys on Vermont Route 11-30. A year round saloon with Western flair precedes a rear nightclub area with daily shows, inspired by Perry’s Stowe venues and European decor. Opening planned for Dec 18 with election night party for area Democrats.

Builders Economists See 1.5 Million Houses a Year
Fortune Magazine reports mixed forecasts for housing starts in 1964 65. Builders foresee 1 665 000 starts in late 1964 rising to 1 700 000 in 1965 while Fortune economists project about 1 550 000 annually. Single family builders expect 1 100 000 starts in 1964 and roughly the same in 1965 with prefab shipments up 15 percent this year and into 1965.
