Daley Opposes State Sales Tax in Vermont
Democratic gubernatorial hopeful John J. Daley released a three part tax position arguing Vermont’s tax system is adequate and a sales tax is unnecessary and impractical. He warned of a slower growth but said the current structure will fund general fund needs including education and other programs. He called a sales tax regressive and pledged to veto any such measure, noting it would only raise revenue if taxed food clothing medicines and other essentials.
