Witness recalls defendant with a gun in murder trial
Thomas Shanahan testified in Addison Superior Court that the last person he saw with the alleged murder weapon at the Taco House was defendant Michael Martin. Shanahan described the weapon as a .45 caliber looking gun, though he could not identify it precisely. The state says Martin traded a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson the night after the slaying of Harry Cirelli on October 5, 1976, and argues the bullet in Cirelli’s Palace Hotel room came from that gun. No witness has placed Martin at the scene, and two more witnesses are set to testify as the trial continues.
