HUD halts Leisure Living land sales in multiple states
The Department of Housing and Urban Development orders Leisure Living Communities of Fitchburg Massachusetts to stop vacation land sales in the United States. Connecticut Real Estate Commission Director James E Carey says the action follows hearings revealing alleged illegal real estate practices and failure to provide required financial reports. Carey notes the firm did not notify HUD of its Connecticut license revocation and links the company to past underworld associations. Attorneys for the firm withdrew their license-fight after admitting state-law violations.
