Sunday Racing Faces Vermont Budget and Legislation

Sunday pari mutuel racing in Vermont faces a stand off over funding as lawmakers weigh additional state money. Local opinion sees tax relief if Sunday races continue, while neighboring New York optics on similar bets remain speculative. Legislative action in 1969 will determine the sport’s future, with $550,000 extra state revenue from Sunday racing this past season offering a potential impetus for decisions.
