Suzanne Williams Sentenced For Destroying Draft Cards
Suzanne Williams, 19, of Leverett, formerly Shaftsbury Vt, received an indefinite federal penitentiary term for destroying draft records at Boston’s Customs House. Judge Garrity allowed up to six years under the Federal Youth Correction Act. Williams refused bail and said she would do it again. Francis Femia, 20, of Williamson W Va, got a one year term after a four year sentence for failing to report for induction, and John Phillips, 24, of Lynn shouted for sentencing after the ruling. Williams had painted the Selective Service records and fled the scene amid anti draft protests.
