North Bennington Women of the Baptist Church announce a donation supper in the church social rooms on October 23 at 6 PM. The Congregational Women's Fellowship executive board will meet next Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the president Mrs John Kennedy's home on College Road.
Manchester selectmen met to review plans for a proposed town office building but received no plans. They discussed an expected architect, a possible $28,000 cost, and an FCC estimate of $37,180. Also on the agenda was a 27 trailer park on four acres along U.S. 7 and a bank letter required by financing officials. Street acceptances, road width issues, and a stump blocking Jennifer Lane were debated along with liability waivers. The town considered Humane Society care for problem animals, with potential impoundment and funding.
Mary and Forrest Moses plan a Grandma Moses Memorial by relocating the former District No. 3 school at Eagle Bridge near N Y 67 onto land owned by the late artist’s family. The project preserves her local history, with many Moses descendants still living in Eagle Bridge White Creek area. Completion date uncertain, but work may begin this fall to move the school to a new site and create a museum.
Manchester Israel Congregation of Manchester held its annual meeting and election of officers on October 6 after Atonement Day services. Elected were J.J. Mueller president J Isaacs vice president Sammy Greenberg treasurer Mrs Yetta Isaacs Nathan Kamber trustees Mrs H M Mueller secretary clerk and Mrs Blanche Isaacs corresponding secretary. Activities for the coming year were discussed with plans to continue Friday night and major holiday services and to keep facilities open to the community.
