BROC launches anti alcohol program to fight rural poverty
The Bennington Rutland Opportunity Council announces an anti alcohol program for low income residents in rural Bennington and Rutland counties. Director Mrs Berna Seward says counselors Whitmore and Robinson will inform officials and residents of services including counseling, job training and employment. The program aims to break poverty linked to alcohol by providing home visits and guidance with partners like Rutland Mental Health, United Counseling Service and Alcoholic Rehabilitation. An advisory committee of residents and local officials will oversee efforts as eligibility extends to those near the poverty line.
