Last holdouts surrender in NYC jail rebellions

Forty one prisoners the last holdouts from a five jail riot in New York were evacuated from the Long Island City House of Detention to Rikers Island by cherry picker. Observers including Army doctor Dr Howard Levy accompanied them to prevent mistreatment as guards faced barricaded doors. The move came after hostages were freed and amid ongoing prisoner grievances over judicial reform and prison conditions.

Vermont Supreme Court upholds abortion law
