Pownal boards plans seventh graders return to town school

Pownal School Board approved moving seventh graders back from Mt. Anthony Union High School to Pownal Elementary to cut costs and ease MAU overcrowding. Estimated 1977-78 tuition at MAU was 1600 per pupil, about 80 000 for 50 students. Pownal would be 37 000 plus first year costs but still cheaper. The plan mirrors MAU with added reading, removes home economics and industrial arts, and includes bids for a 28 passenger mini bus.
