Chicago commuter boat shuttles move downtown on river Sunliner
Patrick Dwyer joins a growing Chicago flow from suburb to city with a two hour round trip on the 65 foot Sunliner commuter boat. Wendella runs the service under Captain Albert Borgstrom who built a river fleet used for daily rides and sightseeing. The program, in its 10th season, offers seven minute rides for 40 cents single and $3.50 for ten tickets, linking Madison Street Bridge area to near North Side offices while rival river pilots note New York’s hydrofoil failures.

California voters split loyalties in Nixon coattail drift
In California Nixon is seen as leading by a wide margin yet coattail impact on House races is limited. McCloskey bypasses Nixon, facing Democratic Jim Stewart with McGovern’s campaign and party organizers casting doubt on a GOP sweep. Democrats outnumber Republicans two to one and brace for 43 House seats and 100 state races plus 22 ballot measures amid registration efforts.
