Why are Vietnam vets fighting for Rhodesia
Keith Nelson, a 26 year old Vietnam veteran from Sycamore Illinois, recovers from a Rhodesian mine blast and plans to return as a medic instructor. About 200 to 300 Americans are said to fight in Rhodesia alongside Britons in a slate of roughly 1,000 foreigners, drawn by conservatism, foreign policy discontent, prior service, and adventure. Americans here receive about 534 dollars a month in local currency. some are reimbursed for travel, with recruitment publicized in Soldier of Fortune and other channels as Rhodesia seeks manpower for its white minority regime.
