Three crew missing in Watkins Glen gasoline barge blast
An explosion and fire on a barge carrying over 500000 gallons of gasoline at Watkins Glen Harbor left the acting captain and two crew members missing and presumed dead. Charles Wellington Peter Pederson and Edward Bixby were linked to the blast as authorities investigated a possible spark from the diesel engine.
