HUD Rejects Montpelier's Model Cities Application
Montpelier Vermont, city manager H Warren Scribner said HUD rejected the Model Cities application for 80 000 in federal funds. He noted the machinery to implement a program will be repurposed to pursue an independent planning study costing about 10 000. He argued the program rules favor urban areas and he said reapplication may occur when funds are available. Winooski is currently Vermont’s certified Model Cities locality with planning complete and first phase work expected next year.
