U S and allied forces repelled a Dak To assault as B52s struck north of the Mu Gia pass and at Ma Gia Pass. Mortars and gunfire hit Dak To and nearby Kontum with American casualties reported. Up to 1,641 Communist dead counted. U S losses 287 dead and 1,000 wounded.

Oil Slick Only Clue To Missing Tanker

U S Navy and Coast Guard searched the Pacific near Sasebo for 37 crewmen of an American tanker feared sunk after an engine room fire. A large oil slick sighted from air about 30 miles northeast of Sasebo was the only possible clue, but officials cautioned it may not be from the tanker and questioned the vessel's identity.

New Sunday Knickerbocker Set for New York City

UPI reports a new Sunday weekly, the Knickerbocker, to debut Sunday Feb 25 in New York. Frank J. Keller and Joseph L. Morse, linked with Funk and Wagnalls, publish the newsless paper with four color editorial and 24 color comic pages for 20 cents.

Dorset Woman Killed In Two-Car Accident

Kathryn Bayard Shattuck 35 of Dorset died in a two car crash on Ut. 30 near the Dorset Field Club golf course. Janet Taft 17, also of Dorset, escaped with minor injuries. Taft was a senior at Burr and Burton Seminary. Shattuck had been a part time librarian at Shaftsbury School. Mrs. Shattuck’s body was taken to Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester.

De Gaulle Attacks Dollar Aims for Gold Standard
