Moon Study Advanced By Apollo 12 Mission
Apollo 12 astronauts Charles Conrad and Alan Bean walked the lunar surface twice and returned almost 100 pounds of rocks soil and glass beads. A nuclear powered science station was set up to run for a year or more and help study lunar magnetic field solar wind and atmosphere. Ground observers note the landing was near Surveyor 3 and caution remains about landing precision and fuel limits for future missions.

Free Speech Issue Raised In Chicago Conspiracy Trial
UPI reports Judge Julius J. Hoffman rejected a defense bid to dismiss charges against seven Chicago 1968 Democratic Convention rioters. The ruling centers on free speech and the use of undercover records, with prosecutors arguing the First Amendment does not shield illegal activity, while defense lawyers warn of a chilling effect on speech. The case flags ongoing debates over undercover policing and the Red Squad records.
