Old Bijur plant to stay taxable, college says
The former Bijur Lubricating Corp. plant on South Street will remain on Bennington's tax rolls. Bennington College acquired the building by gift from nine original owners. The college plans to explore uses and possible rental options while keeping the facility taxable. The 35,000 square foot factory space and parking area could attract a new industry, and trustees will seek to facilitate a sale for industrial use if a suitable offer arrives. Bijur vacated in 1969 for a new Kocher Drive plant renamed Lover's Lane for the founder.
