Dartmouth to study laser beam mysteries under NSF funding
The National Science Foundation grants Dartmouth College 104 400 dollars for two years to support radiowave propagation research on atmospheric effects on laser beams led by Dr. John W. Strohbehn of the Thayer School of Engineering. The project tests theories relevant to earth space communications and measures a 15 milliwatt laser over a two mile path, tracking intensity fluctuations and comparing with Russian findings from Tatarski and Obukhov.
