Highway report faults truck driver in triple fatality
Federal Highway Administration pins the July 2 crash on Route 9 on Woodford Mountain on driver downshift failure and severely worn brakes on both tractor and semi trailer. Witness accounts and a tow firm owner’s testimony support the conclusion that braking was inadequate and the truck was out of control while attempting a curve, killing three members of the Timothy S. Pike family.
