D H Lawrence book review from Harper & Row edition
A critical survey edited by Stephen Spender presents D H Lawrence as genius and fool in equal measure. It surveys his novels and poetry, noting contradictions and intense emotion, with essays by Trilling Hardy Meyers Alvarez and others. The volume argues Lawrence’s sexuality and philosophy fuelled provocative works amid self-conflict.

Movie reviews in brief on Eddie Coyle Last of Sheila and more
A compact review roundup praises Eddie Coyle for its grit with Mitchum Boyle and Jordan in strong performances. It rails against a duller plot in Man Who Loved Cat Dancing while approving Live and Let Die as a lively Bond entry. It finds A Touch of Class funny in spots but notes weak linking material. The Last of Sheila is praised for its witty Agatha Christie vibe and entertaining after-dinner game premise.
