Action planned on Weeks School reform in Vergennes
Corrections Commissioner Charles G. Adams will act on recommendations for Weeks School in Vergennes after consulting the corrections board November 27. The petitioning residents led to hiring an extra work supervisor and a recruitment drive for more supervisory staff, plus a state police patrol boost at Hoff's request to increase area surveillance. Legislative draftsmen prepare about 14 bills for the Hoff package to reorganize executive government.

Vermont seeks more funds for college aid program
Vermont officials said a supplemental appropriations bill includes a $200,000 request for the Vermont Student Assistance Corp to cover 280 additional needy students. Dr Max W Barrows affirmed the Hoff administration will seek legislative approval. The group had already received half a million dollars for the year under a 1967 appropriation. Grants reach up to $800 based on net family income. Meanwhile four proposed sites for regional correctional centers were named Burlington Rutland St Johnsbury and Woodstock. The plan replaces 14 county jails and is under review by the Legislative Council with cost estimates due for the Corrections Board meeting on Nov 27. A Windham College freshman pleaded innocent to two counts of marijuana possession and was held on $500 bail.
