Rural School Board weighs memorial for W Philip Walker
The Greater Bennington School Board debated memorial options for late principal J. Philip Walker including renaming Molly Stark School. Proposals for a wildlife sanctuary and a Walker portrait faced mixed reactions, with opposition to renaming. Board tabled the issue after abstentions and comments on school identity, following recommendations from a memorial committee chaired by Therese Goodermore. Dean Fausett of Montpelier and New York City has been approached about the portrait.
