Junky jewels spark Bennington junk car crushing project
Old Bennington sabbatical English instructor P. Fred H. Stocking photographed junk cars at the Bennington landfill, inspired by a Banner photo of 400 to 500 cars. The town plans a second junk car crushing project within a year with Hodgdon Bros. of Ascutney operating the crusher. The crusher will visit Lyndonville, Springfield, Fair Haven, Poultney, Castleton, Rutland before Bennington, with assistance offered by local officials to bring vehicles to the site.
