One Vote Defeats Arlington Sewage Plan Referendum
Arlington voters narrowly rejected a referendum to allow selectmen to negotiate buying a seven acre site for a future sewage treatment plant adjacent to Water Street and the Battenkill River. The 391 to 390 defeat ends three years of planning tied to a $57,000 state grant, with engineers’ recommendation guiding site choice.
