Selective Service overhaul adds new draft classes
The Selective Service System created several new draft classifications and abolished old ones in line with the new law signed by President Nixon. Changes include a 60 day registration window for 18 year olds, end of 26 year old active files except for certain groups, and new 2-D 4-G and 1-H classifications with shifting timelines and deferment rules.
