Six Otter Valley Teens In Fatal Route 53 Crash
Six Otter Valley teens were riding together when their car veered off Route 53 near Lake Dunmore. The vehicle struck two oak trees, killing one youth and injuring five others, two of them critically. State police described the occupants as pinned in the wreckage.

EPA proposes tougher radiation standards
The EPA proposed raising the protective level against atomic radiation to 20 times the current standard, potentially preventing 1,000 or more cancer or genetic damage cases in 25 years. Russell Train announced rules applying across the nuclear fuel cycle and including previously unregulated radioactive materials. Current limits are 500 millirems body and 1,500 millirems thyroid. new rules would change these thresholds.
