Dead fish floated and engineers discuss river quality class C with cleanup hopes by 1977. Search parties reported no progress in locating three American students and a Dutch woman abducted four days earlier by guerrillas from a Tanzanian game preserve on Lake Tanganyika. Tanzanian sources said the captives might be held by Marxist guerrillas in Zaire across the lake. Stanford University said Tanzanian police arrested a suspect, but officials denied confirmation.
