David N. Drummond and Janet Barbe spent 12 hours adrift on a raft after their 26-foot cabin cruiser sank off Manomet near Cape Cod. Drummond, of Wellesley Hills, clung to the raft while Barbe, of Lanesboro, lost energy and consciousness. He reached shore at 8:45 a.m. Sunday after three fishermen spotted him. A Coast Guard search for the raft failed as darkness fell.

House Panel Sets Hearing On State's Divorce Laws
Vermont lawmakers prepare a June 3 House Judiciary Committee hearing on a Senate approved bill to liberalize divorce grounds. Chair Thomas Salmon of Rockingham outlined the session with invited legal experts and college and bar association representatives. He opposes widening the grounds, warning it could make Vermont a divorce bill while also reviewing abortion, crime control, and inheritance tax bills for 1970.
