He cited a 10 percent income share could raise about 65,000 dollars annually versus the present 35,000. The Legislative Council Tax Study Committee also weighs equitable taxes for state property and broader tax reforms.
Burlington resident Robert Myers pursues a Kennedy memorial in a city park, hoping to raise 4000 for a bust monument over ten years. He has a few donations in a memorial fund and will refund them if the project fails. He began in February 1964 due to his affinity for the late president.
In Montpelier a planned 25 dollar a plate Democratic fundraiser was postponed to accommodate Mrs. Lyndon Johnson’s visit. Postmaster General Lawrence O'Brien agreed to the delay to keep focus on the First Lady’s schedule, with the event to be rescheduled this fall. Governor Hoff announced the shift after three days of uncertainty about the June 9 dinner in Burlington.
