Eisenhower Leaves Hospital Eyes Vietnam Return

Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, after a 13 day hospital stay, said he would be willing to travel abroad if doctors approve and President Johnson requests. Springfield UPI report says Education Board chair Harold Ron Raynolds criticizes the transition to new secondary school minimum standards. Danforth Indicted for Murder Faces May 29 Arraignment

A Bennington County Grand Jury indicted 16 year old James Danforth for second degree murder in the February shotgun death of his father Joseph. A new arraignment date of May 29 was set in County Court. The true bill was returned after 14 witnesses testified to state officials present in Windsor. The case moves from a not guilty plea to a second degree charge alleging Malice only.

Invasion of the DMZ by U.S. and South Vietnamese Forces

UPI reports a massive allied assault into the Demilitarized Zone using land sea and air to destroy over 5,000 Communists. The three-pronged offensive began Thursday amid heavy resistance as Marines and Vietnamese troops push toward the Ben Hai River and Free dom Bridge. 11,000 civilians in the area are evacuated.
