Proxmire accuses Air Force of juggling C5A costs

Sen. William Proxmire accuses the Air Force of manipulating cost figures to mask the C5A giant cargo plane overrun. He cites a briefing showing reallocated prices between runs A and B to hide excess profits and raise the total to 5.2 billion dollars, about 2 billion more than 1965 estimates. Air Force officials defend the larger figure, noting space parts and a bigger airframe than the prior 3.1 billion estimate.
