Dorset Hollow proprietor David Sirak moves toward closing on the Route 30 Village Farmhouse in Dorset after the Zoning Board approved clarifying use. The fully licensed restaurant with occasional entertainment operates in a rural residential district and traces its origins to a 1973 purchase by Pat Estes.
Hoosick Falls hosts the 1977 C-F Bike-A-Thon with a two mile route starting at the park. Participants collect sponsors and are paid by miles ridden, with events scheduled for Sunday May 22 from 1 to 4 pm. Dr Charles Berger will present a live Alaskan tundra wolf and film at Mt Anthony Union High School Bennington on May 24 at 7. The program, aimed at all ages, showcases wolf biology and social structure. Also Merilyn Hunter inducted into Sigma Theta Tau. A May 16 public hearing will review village plan of development readoption.
The Dorset School Board meets May 18 at noon at the Bennington Rutland Supervisory Union office. The Dorset Board of Sisters holds a grievance meeting on Saturday May 21 at 9 a.m. at the Town Clerk's office. those aggrieved by the sisters' decision may call the town clerk to schedule an appointment.
The Act 250 hearing on the Arlington sewage treatment system was postponed to allow consultation with selectmen. It is now set for Tuesday May 24 at 10 a.m. at the Arlington town hall.
The Rensselaer County Department for the Aging earned a national achievement award from the National Association of Counties for its aging network. County Executive William J. Murphy said the program links agencies to involve seniors across two cities and 14 towns, with planning and development of direct services. Commissioner Paul Tazbir will accept the award at the NACO conference in July.
