Battle momentum carried by Bennington planners for 1777 reenactment
Organizers Bruce Beh and Louis Bellemare urged merchants and civic leaders to sustain the Battle of Bennington momentum with a summer of events. Plans include 18th century costumes, a town crier, fashion show, street theatre, an Ethan Allen beer fest, stocks, minstrels, concerts, field day, street dancing, costume balls, and flags. About 1,400 troops have volunteered for the Aug. 13 reenactment. efforts aim to revitalize local spirit and draw shoppers back to Bennington.

Ray Crosier to close North Street barber shop after 47 years
Ray Crosier, longtime North Street barber in Bennington, retires tomorrow May 14 after 47 years in the same shop started by his brother Clarence on July 10, 1930. The shop will be leased to Norman Strobridge with Hair Port Beauty Salon moving into the former Strobridge office. Crosier plans to sharpen saws from his North Bennington home and notes North Street once bustled with shops.
