Astronaut L. Gordon Cooper enters final pre-orbital checkout at Cape Canaveral Florida as launch approaches. He states readiness and the team confirms systems are go for the planned 22 orbit mission with launch scheduled for Tuesday.
Voters at the Mt Anthony Union School District annual meeting will decide the 1963 64 budget. The board proposes 28 000 for next year's operations with about 21 000 for continuing planning of a union school building program. The total includes 59 900 expenses from 1962 63. The meeting is at 8 p m at Bennington Elementary School.
Vermont lawmakers backed an equalization bill to assess each town’s taxable wealth to guide state school aid. The measure, championed by W Arthur Simpson and Lyman Hunt, with Vermont School Directors Association support, aims to direct more funds to towns with greater need. The Tax Department will study town wealth to inform the Education Department’s aid decisions. The move signals broader reform and a new aid formula planned for next year.
