Minorities key to 72 election study says
A forthcoming study argues that the 1972 presidential race can be swung by targeted black, Spanish speaking, Jewish, Slavic and other minority voters who comprise about 30 to 33 percent of the electorate. Based on 2000 precincts and 700 elections, the authors note shifts in turnout and party alignment across New York, New Jersey, California and Illinois, with implications for both parties.

Extension sought of Indian services to off-reservation Indians
58 congressmen urged extending Bureau of Indian Affairs services to about 320000 Indians outside reservations in a letter to Interior Secretary Rogers Morton. They argued past legislation shows intent to provide benefits nationwide, citing eastern tribes without treaties like Passamaquoddy and Iroquois denied services. President Nixon also named John Y. Ing to the Postal Service Board of Governors.
