UPI reports Angela Davis movements after the Marin County shootings were traced by prosecutors as the murder, kidnapping and conspiracy trial nears its end. Witnesses placed her travels from Chicago to Detroit to Miami to New York from August to October 1970, with one witness noting a ticket bought to Los Angeles minutes after the courthouse escape attempt. Johnson Thorne returns to testify about alleged conversations with Davis days before the Marin shootings.
Kellogg Idaho UPI report details four more deaths at the Sunshine silver mine raising the toll to 51. Rescue teams used a 36 man elevator to reach the 3400 foot level as 40 miners still missing, with two survivors from a crew recalling the deadly smoke and gas nine days after the blaze.
United Press International reports widespread antiwar demonstrations across the United States. Police clash with crowds at campuses in Minnesota and Florida, with National Guardsmen deployed and hundreds arrested. Virgil Reynolds 27 reportedly told his brother he hated this world.
