Second Whiskey Rebellion disrupts Long Island Rail service
New York UP I reports diesel engineers on the Long Island Railroad walked off the job disrupting 12 000 evening rush hour riders on four branches. The strike followed an executives luncheon honoring LIRR president Thomas Goodfellow with hard liquor, sparked by union concerns over Rule G and safety. Federal court injunction ended the walkout and engineers were due back.
