Blues Plans Split Likely After Montpelier Talks
In Montpelier the Blues chief met with acting Vermont official Eugene Lemke and New Hampshire Blue Shield leader Oliver Fifield to discuss rate schedules and a possible split of twin state plans. New Hampshire approved a seven percent rate increase for Blue Cross, while Blue Shield faces about a nine percent cut. Vermont and New Hampshire would audit the plans’ financials within a year to decide on future rate changes. Durkin questioned, but Gov Thomson’s push for a task force to probe Blue Cross near bankruptcy continues.
