Seven temporary jobs approved for Bennington residents
Seven temporary positions under the Emergency Employment Act were approved by selectmen despite objections from Timothy R. Corcoran and Max Perrotta. The town will fund about 10 percent of salaries, roughly $4,000, with roles including two police dispatchers, one clerk typist, one maintenance worker, and three playground supervisors. Funding comes from Washington, but apprehension remains whether any will become permanent. The 3 to 2 vote approved accepting federal funds, with Campbell Jerome and Sheridan in favor. Corcoran and Perrotta opposed.
