The City Council adopted a resolution against sidewalk paintings to avoid offense, asking the girls to repaint the flag for City Hall and have crews clean the sidewalk. The girls defended the gesture as patriotic and constructive, while comments noted the project’s good intentions despite imperfect flag reproduction.
