Alcibiades the injured red tailed hawk departs Manchester for Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Pennsylvania to join Blue Mountain resident hawk in a large outdoor cage. Dr Maurice Broun, sanctuary curator, notes the hawk’s trust in humans and nonflight status. The move reflects Hawk Mountain’s evolution from hawk shooting to an inviolate wildlife sanctuary protecting all species nearby.
