Baby bust empties classrooms at HFCS

Hoosick Falls Central School faces shrinking enrollment from 1972 growth plans. Projections by Philip Leonard show 1982 83 enrollment at 1345, with 112 in this year’s graduating class and only 82 kindergartners this year. Decline tied to birth rates and families moving away, offset by Oak Materials growth and uncertain state aid. The district eyes renting vacant rooms to cover potential funding gaps while monitoring White Creek’s growth as the fastest suburban area.
